Abstract

Los Ars moriendi son compendios redactados en el siglo XV, cuya finalidad era fomentar los tradicionales cuidados que debían procurársele a un moribundo. La importancia de la asistencia a quienes van a morir se debía a la creencia cristiana de que, en el momento de la agonía, el demonio aprovecha la debilidad de quien sufre, para atormentarlo con las últimas tentaciones, motivando la condena de su alma. Sin embargo, en esta lucha final entre el bien y el mal, el hombre no se encuentra solo, ya que los ángeles y los santos, invocados por las oraciones de quienes lo acompañan, pueden ayudarle a vencer esas tentaciones.
