Abstract

Occupational health and safety is a disciplinary field dedicated to the construction of a preventive culture in organizations, which begins with the identification of risk factors and dangers, and then formulates regulatory systems that minimize the manifestations of occupational accidents and diseases. However, despite its notable benefits, it is viewed with great skepticism in numerous organizations, when questioning the economic efforts necessary for its materialization and due to its regulatory nature that demands mandatory nature. The purpose of this article is to reveal relevant aspects that promote a productive look at this field and the configuration of the human aspect of the worker in his work environment. The lines of approach in this article are part of an investigative work in the areas of occupational health and safety management that the author advances, based on the naturalistic paradigm under the method of Martin Heidegger's phenomenology. The information presented is an interpretative synthesis of inquiries from research papers, forum reports, documents from international organizations, approaches to workers, bibliographic review and the accumulated experience of the author in his professional career. From here, elements of understanding have emerged that show the contributions of this discipline to productivity, as well as fostering safe work environments, where the physical and mental faculties of workers can be developed with confidence. In the same way, a fair consideration of the human dimensions of the employees, contributes to a performance of the workers in a more productive way.
