The Erotopaígnia and the problem of their methodological approach

The Erotopaígnia are a collection of popular poems on love, composed anonymously when Byzantine society was coming to an end. The text was transmitted in a unique manuscript. Given the material conditions of its transmission as well as the nature of its content, the collection of poems raises a series of methodological problems whose elucidation involves combining, from a holistic and integral hermeneutic perspective, concepts from philology (and its related disciplines), literary theory, discursive grammar and cultural studies.
