San Benito de Nurcia y el origen y la instalación del monacato en Occidente

Se pretende demostrar, en este trabajo, que los monasterios de San Benito se abren como
lugares de refugio para aquellos que, partiendo del trabajo espiritual y manual, pretenden
llegar a ser hombres de Dios. Para ello, el santo propone una Regla como manera de vivir
y de rezar que no siendo a primera vista un escrito extraordinario, muy pronto y casi sin
haberlo previsto, construye al mismo tiempo que una casa de Dios un monumento de
civilización.
