La noción de participación como elemento clave de la refutación agustiniana del maniqueísmo

La noción de “participación” (participatio) en San Agustín es un concepto largamente olvidado por gran parte de los especialistas en la obra agustiniana (Meconi, 1996). En el presente artículo se pretende mostrar cómo la doctrina de la participación, no sólo cumple una función central en la refutación agustiniana del maniqueísmo, sino que en cierto sentido es la clave desde la cual Agustín puede asumir una nueva perspectiva ontológica que le permita escapar de la prisión intelectual que el maniqueísmo supuso para él. Sostenemos que es en base a esta doctrina que será posible la conversión intelectual del maniqueísmo hacia el cristianismo por parte del Santo.
