Abstract

El presente trabajo corresponde a la transcripción literal de la conferencia dictada por Madden para público general el 27 de septiembre de 2011 en el Auditorio de la Universidad Gabriela Mistral, Santiago de Chile. Al final, se excluye la sesión de preguntas. Thomas F. Madden, Saint Louis University

Profesor de Historia y director del Centro de Estudios
Medievales y Renacentistas de la Universidad de Saint Louis, en Estados Unidos, y uno de los más reconocidos medievalistas especializados en las Cruzadas en todo el mundo. Entre sus más recientes publicaciones se pueden encontrar Crusades: Medieval Worlds in Conflict (Brookfield, Ashgate Publishing, 2010), Empires of Trust (New York, Dutton/Penguin, 2008), The Fourth Crusade:
Event, Aftermath, and Perceptions (Brookfield, Ashgate Publishing, 2008). Además, como autor y expert, a aparecido en medios como The New York Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, History Channel, entre otros.
