Abstract

Abstract: The research addresses child-to-parent violence (CPV), a historically present but scarcely recognized phenomenon in Chile. Despite growing interest in recent decades, there are no concrete data or sufficient studies, which has hindered its inclusion in public policies. In light of this gap, international studies identifying social, individual, and family risk factors were used. The aim of the study is to provide empirical evidence that can serve as a basis for the design of specialized programs, such as psychological support for caregivers and preventive campaigns. A qualitative methodology guided by grounded theory was used, through semi-structured interviews with four specialists in the psychosocial field. The results reveal that CPV causes deep clinical harm, intensified by institutional silence, parental shame, and the lack of structured responses. In addition, differences in impact were identified according to gender, age, and social condition, especially affecting women, older adults, and migrants.
