Abstract

Rationalism is the current of modernity on which the foundations of science and modern and contemporary thought are practically based, both theoretically and practically. Inescapable representatives of such a current are René Descartes and Francis Bacon, of theoretical and practical rationalism, correspondingly. Although the bibliography on both authors is extensive, the novelty of this article lies in the understanding of both thoughts with the same axis, namely, the method as a mortgage of truth. The present article therefore intends to briefly develop the way in which the truth would be mortgaged to the method, both from a theoretical rationalism, such as the Cartesian, as well as a practical one, such as the Baconian.
