At present there is a didactic problem regarding the teaching of mathematics, this being one of the most important sciences for the development of any society at an economic, political and social level due to the impact it generates on the logical thinking of individuals, which facilitates development in any aspect of their lives; For this reason, The purpose of this research is to analyze methods and study techniques used in the teaching-learning process of mathematics under the expert approach; where the methods commonly used by the community of teachers can be discerned, the most effective being the one explained by Professor José Antonio Fernández Bravo (2015) in his book Desarrollo del Pensamiento Lógico y Matemático, published in Spain. This method consists of understanding the theory through the use of examples and activities related to daily life that help to develop the student's metalanguage to, later, reason what is understood about the object language and culminate with the application of the acquired knowledge. The epistemic paradigm used here is the socio-critical one with a qualitative approach with a phenomenological methodology. The data collection was through open interviews (carried out to teachers with more than 40 years of experience in basic and university education) The analysis of the results was carried out by means of a triangulation of the hypotheses obtained from the interview together with the theory and the opinion of the observing researcher. The most important conclusion was to understand the theory through examples, activities, and then reason and apply it to daily life.
