Abstract

The purpose of this research is to show a documentary review of some Chilean telecommunications companies considering TIER certification. The title of the documentary review is A look at Chilean telecommunications companies from the TIER Certification. In this sense, the development of Datacenters is in full swing worldwide and Chile is no exception. Data centers are widely distributed and in this report we seek to expose the state of development at the national level taking the TIER certification as a premise. To reinforce the data obtained, a GAP analysis was carried out to differentiate the measurements obtained in the companies evaluated. Regarding the methodology, this research is focused on a review of the TIER certification in telecommunications companies, with an exploratory investigation, it is applied to phenomena that have not been previously investigated (Ramos Galarza, 2020). In reference to the research method, it was based on the Analytical – Synthetic (Rodríguez Jiménez and Pérez Jacinto, 2017) and the inductive – deductive method (Rodríguez and Pérez, 2017). These methods made it possible to individually study the variables of the case of interest. With this in mind, a documentary exploration was carried out on which were the main exhibitors in the data center area in the country. Likewise, premises were identified that would allow us to establish a framework describing national development. Based on the above, in the GAP analysis of different companies, availability, redundancy, security, connectivity and customer service could be measured through indicators, in this way determining the feasibility of the TIER in their data centers. Finally, we conclude that after performing the GAP analysis based on the TIER, the company with the most certifications both nationally and in South America is Equinix, but for a medium or even small company, its particular aspects must always be evaluated, such as costs. /benefits since the implementation and maintenance of services within an organization must always be evaluated according to the security aspects of the data to be maintained and availability of transactions.
